Stacie Powers, PhD.
Founder + PRINCIPAL CONSULTANT
Stacie is an experienced grants consultant with a career spanning over 30 years in arts, education, and youth development.
Her multidisciplinary background includes nonprofit advocacy, library science, academic research, and program evaluation. Throughout her career, Stacie has developed a unique approach to grant writing and program evaluation that combines deep curiosity, rigorous research, and a profound understanding of how to connect with communities.
Grants have shaped her career from the beginning. Her role at a national nonprofit in NYC advocating for comprehensive sex education was funded by a CDC grant. She also worked as a young adult librarian at the New York Public Library and a reference librarian at Bank Street College of Education.
Stacie earned her PhD in Communication Science, specializing in nonverbal communication and brain research. She went on to become a faculty member at The Ohio State University, where she honed her expertise in research, instructional design, and grant writing.
In 2013, she transitioned into program evaluation, applying her social science background and research methods to conduct impact studies. Her work provides a nuanced understanding of grassroots needs and funding strategies, paired with deep empathy for the challenges nonprofits face on the front lines.
As a program evaluator, Stacie began receiving requests for grant writing contracts when clients recognized her talent for conveying impact in a clear and compelling way. This unique perspective—grounded in evaluation and storytelling—helped organizations secure over 12 million dollars in critical funding.
Through joining the Global Grant Writers Collective, Stacie deepened her expertise in crafting long-term funding strategies. She now draws on a robust network of over 600 grant professionals, enabling her to deliver high-quality work and connect clients with additional expertise when needed.
Outside of work, Stacie is the proud mom of two teenagers who are deeply engaged in sports, visual arts, and music. With college applications on the horizon, she has a firsthand appreciation of the dedication it takes to support young people in pursuing their passions and potential. Stacie is committed to supporting innovative organizations that help all youth access opportunities to learn, grow, and thrive.
